Let's get your Guest Bedroom Ready for the Festive Season!
Posted by Joyce Rickett
As the Festive Season approaches, now is the time to get ahead and start preparing your home for overnight guests. Let's face it: This is one of the busiest times of the year. Simply being organized before Christmas and ahead of guests arriving is the best idea. It also ensures you avoid that last-minute panic.
Here are a few simple steps to help you create a warm welcoming atmosphere this Holiday Season.
If your guest room tends to be a dumping ground or used for storage, then now is the time to declutter. You can also clear a space in the Wardrobe or Chest of Drawers, giving them the option to unpack if they wish to do so.
Crisp, clean Bedding and lots of comfortable Pillows will ensure your guests have a good night's rest. Decorative Cushions and layering Throws or Blankets across the Bed add a touch of Luxury. You can even add a few Christmas Decorations!
A Beautiful Table Lamp by the Bedside creates a warm glow and provides the right amount of light should they want to read in Bed. Why not leave a selection of Books or Magazines for them to flick through?
Don't forget to leave clean Bath Towels neatly folded on the Bed, and perhaps some miniature Toiletries in case they forget something. Remember to leave a note with the Wifi password.
And finally... add a few thoughtful touches to welcome your guests, such as Homemade Cookies, a scented Candle or Fresh Flowers by the Bedside.

Layered Lighting
Posted by Joyce Rickett
Autumn is one of our favourite Seasons because it's all about change. The trees are already turning beautiful shades of gold, orange, and red. As the temperature drops and the days get shorter we naturally retreat indoors again.
Creating an inviting autumnal ambience in your home goes beyond just adding Soft Furnishings. Autumn Lighting is all about creating a warm glow throughout your home for those dark evenings ahead. Placing a Floor Lamp in a dark corner creates a nice pool of light for a cosy spot to curl up and read a good book. Positioning smaller Table Lamps at different heights can give a gentle glow, it's not as harsh as overhead lighting. Don't be afraid to place lamps in unexpected places such as the kitchen counter! And don't forget Fairy Lights aren't just for the Festive Season!
By layering Lighting throughout your home you'll set the mood for a cosy welcome this Autumn.
Call into the Home Company to view our New Season Lighting.

Autumn is Here!

As the Autumn nights draw closer, it's time to get cosy and create warm, inviting atmospheres in our homes. And one of the best ways to do this is to center your furnishings around your sofa!
The sofa is central to any living space - it's where we often catch-up with friends, snuggle up with a good book or enjoy a mug of hot chocolate in the evenings...
But what's the best style of sofa to suit your new Autumn inspired home?
At The Home Company, our interior furnishing consultants are here to help you. We have a range of high-quality furniture to complement your home. When it comes to the Autumn time, texture is key, and we'd recommend selecting sofas which are upholstered in rich fabrics like velvet and chenille.
These types of fabrics keep warm against cool temperatures and feel luxurious all-year-round. We'd also recommend choosing warmer colours such as beige, orange, red and forest green to reflect the seasonal changes in nature.
Call in to The Home Company to meet with our interior furnishing consultants or to browse our current collections. We're open 7 days a week at High Corn Mill, Skipton.

Spring Cleaning Tips
Posted by Joyce Rickett
It's that time of year again when we start thinking about Spring cleaning, organising and refreshing our home decor for the warmer months ahead.
In preparation for this years Spring clean our team at The Home Company recommend you get ahead by organising and decluttering your home first. Often reorganising and clearing the clutter is the hardest part, by doing so we guarantee you'll have a feeling of accomplishment!
When decluttering you should ask yourself if the item is any one of the following, Beautiful, Useful or Sentimental, if you are unable to put your items in any of these categories then it might be time to donate it or pass it on.
Once you have decluttered it's time to roll up your sleeves and move onto the actual Spring cleaning. Cleaning the whole house can seem like an overwhelming task so we recommend doing it room by room. This is the most effective way to deep clean your house.
Here at The Home Company we have all sorts of storage solutions to help you organise your home. Our on-trend compact Hugo table is both stylish and useful, it comes in a variety of Colours and has a removable lid providing plenty of storage space. The Stowe Storage Bench with 2 baskets offers stylish storage for your everyday clutter in the Hallway or mudroom. Call in soon for more storage ideas. We hope you enjoy this beautiful Season.
